Coyote Hills

Coyote Hills East Bay Regional Park is one of the crown jewels of the East Bay Regional Park System. The Nectar Garden was created as a special place with flowers to attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and other birds.

This is a gallery of flight images taken primarily at Coyote Hills.

The Eagles of Tule Lake

This article describes my recent visit to Tulelake, California, which in February has one of the largest congregations of Bald Eagles in the continental United States. In addition to the photography, there is a bit of travelogue and a short discussion of the natural history of this species and why it congregates in this particular location.

Macro Photography

Here you can view studio quality images depicting the life cycle of a variety of small creatures. Follow voracious caterpillars consuming every morsel of their host plant, into pupation, followed by the miracle of metamorphosis, as the butterflies emerge from their chrysallises.  Watch a praying mantis grow right out of its egg case to a four inch long cricket eating monster. See Gulf Fritillary and Pipevine Swallowtail butterflies, and Monarchs, in life cycle-capturing images of a quality we have not seen anywhere else. Any one these images represents essentially a full frame photo that will print up magnificently in any format of any size!
